Primary Purposes
  • To provide an independent study program personalized to a standard-based curriculum focused on essential standards
  • To collaborate with district-wide private and public school administrators and counselors that ensure students in grades 9-12 are provided with courses to fulfill graduation requirements.
  • To provide a learning and teaching environment with clear objectives and expectations that monitors students growth and success.
  • To be an alternative educational option in the Guam community for ALL students with the desire to fulfill requirements towards a high school diploma.

Protocols During COVID-19 Restrictions:

  • Student must first obtain a counselor's referral.
  • Please have your counselor email referral to mainoffice.acs@gmail.com
  • Registration forms are available on this website ( see forms), they may be emailed to our main office or students may personally come in to the main office for registration, orientation and assessments following restrictions.
  • ACS maintains restrictions for face to face contact, registration, orientation and teacher/ student consultations.
  • Students have the options to do on-line consultations via Google Classroom or face to face meets ( only if fully vaccinated)
     *Please Note: You may be required to complete initial assessments, (if applicable) and orientation  before  consult/contact  with 
​        teachers. 

Registration

  • A counselor's referral, if a student is currently in a school and will enroll part-time for credit recovery or advancement.
  •  A withdrawal form from a previous school ,if the student is a minor and will be attending Asmuyao Community School full-time 
  •  A most recent OFFICIAL transcript, if not enrolled in a current school
  •  A parent or guardian must accompany student, if he/she is below 18 years of age.
  •  Initial payment for registration and building cost
  • Additional cost for assessment may be charged, if applicable to registration requirements


​Graduation Requirements 

Currently, 24 credits are required to graduate.
  • 4 English Language Arts: English 9, 10, 11, & 12
  • 4 Math: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and a fourth math course may include: Pre-Algebra, Applied Math, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, or Calculus
  • 3 Science: Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Anatomy and Physiology, Marine Biology, and General Science
  • 3 Social Studies: World Geography/World History, US History, American Government, Guam History
  • 1 Physical Education
  • 1 Health
  • 1 CHamoru Language and Culture
  • 1 Fine Arts
  • 6 Electives
Students whose expected graduation date was prior to 2003 will be allowed to follow the credit requirements of their graduation year. All Sciences, Guam History and CHamoru Langauge and Culture require lab time. 

Consultation/ Orientation

  •  All students must attend an orientation prior to consultation sessions with teachers
  • An adult who will be responsible as the student monitor must be in attendance during orientation.
  • Monitor(s) must be 18 years or older and must be committed through the student's course of study.
  • Must be on time to attend scheduled orientation.​

Fees

  • The initial fee of $150.00 will be required upon registration.
  • Tuition fees are $70.00 per every 0.5 credit.
  • Other fees may be included depending on the student course requirements such as:
    1. ​​Textbooks Security Deposit- $50.00 per textbook, refundable upon the return of books
    2. Building Fee- $100.00
    3. Science Lab Fee- $50.00 for every 0.5 credit science course
    4. CHamoru Language and Guam History Lab - $25.00
    5. Course Assessment Fees- $30.00 per 0.5 credit
    6. Diagnostic/Placement Assessments- $25.00 if applicable
    7. Transcript after the 1st copy- $10.00 each
    8. Expediting Fee- $20.00 per 0.5 credit
    9. Diploma Fee- $30.00 with cover/$10.00 without
           

Assessments

Several assessments are administered during the course of study and are dependent on the courses and requirements established by the registrar's office. These assessments may include a:
1. Reading Diagnostic (DORA- online assessment)
2. Math Placement ( K-12 Math computer generated)
3. A Career Interest Survey (CAPS, COPS, COPES Career Inventory)
3. A Pre, Mid and Final exam (scheduled and teacher generated throughout the course)
4. Mid and Final Exam (scheduled and teacher generated throughout the course)

Computer Lab

Picture
A fully functioning Computer Lab with wireless internet access, MAC PCs, laptops, tablets, and printers are available for student use during all hours of operation. A lab assistant is available to help students during these hours. A nominal fee for printing documents may be required. ( Following protocols)

Exiting Criteria

Students exiting Asmuyao each semester will be responsible for clearance. There are several requirements upon exit before grades can be finalized and a transcript released. These expectations are discussed during registration and orientation. A checklist is also provided for each student. Transcripts will be available a week after the last exit exam or final and must be picked up by the student or an authorized adult. 

Assistance

Pregnancy Program 
Financial Assistance is afforded to individuals who meet the qualifying criteria​:
  • Enrolled in a current school
  • First child
  • Will be out of school during the last trimester of the pregnancy until birth of the child.
  • Registration and tuition cost will be covered up to 3.0 credits only for the semester that will be missed (No credit recovery)
  •  Student will still have to cover building cost of $100.00. Book deposits and exam fees are provided at a discount rate of $20.00.
Work Program
This program is provided for a student who may want to work as an Asmuyao employee and use his/her work hours to cover cost of course fees. Conditions apply. Inquiries may be made in the main office.( Temporarily not available until all COVID restrictions are lifted)
Rotary Club of Tumon Bay Scholarship
Provided funds are approved, a student may receive financial assistance for all cost upon meeting the criteria for qualifications. Please inquire with the registrar's office.
American Jobs Center 
Financial assistance based on household income. Students may apply and inquire with the AJC office located on the 2nd floor of the Bell Building in Anigua. Referrals are submitted to Asmuyao.
Public Health JOBS 
​Financial aid is provided if a client is currently receiving government assistance. Please inquire with Public Health. Vouchers are referred to Asmuyao.
Counselor's Scholarship
Every high school counselor is provided a referral of one senior student per school year up to 3.0 credits for recovery. This student must be committed to complete all courses, sign a contract with ACS and will be monitored by his/her school counselor. Some fees will still be required. However ,all tuition cost is free. 

Alternative Pathways
This program is federally funded, in partnership the the Dept. of Education. Upon approval by the school Counselor and Program Lead Coordinator, students may receive full funding up to three credits per semester as long as funds are available. Students MUST be committed to fulfill required courses.
